Our Business

In October 2008, Green Alternatives retail store was located on Colonial Avenue.  We purchased the retail store from a mother/daughter team and re-opened near the Opera House.  Green Alternatives retail store expanded its popular recycling drop-off center and added an eco-friendly mowing service in our new downtown Norfolk location. 

After a year in our downtown spot, we came across an opportunity to move our entire store into the Farm Market on Church Street -- a perfect fit.  We operated the retail store, recycling center, and lawn service from that location for two years. 

This past October, Green Alternatives retail store and recycling center closed permanently.  It was sad to see the store close because we both believed wholeheartedly in the products and services it provided. 

Now, Green Alternatives continues to serve Hampton Roads with its eco mowing, lawn care, and landscape services.  We're excited to stick around and continue greening the local area.

Who We Are

We both came to Norfolk a while back for school.  After graduating from Old Dominion University, we headed west and lived in Southern California for several years. 

When it was time to depart sunny California, we came back to Norfolk and picked up Green Alternatives retail store. 

We both believe in making smart, eco-forward choices because it DOES make a difference.  We believe that our individual actions will not only make a difference, but will also inspire others as well.
